The Acolytes serve at the altar during worship services, assisting the clergy in the celebration of the liturgy. We are always welcoming new members to the corps.

Roles such as Subdeacon, Thurifer, Server, Crucifer (Processional Cross), Torchbearer (Candles), and those handling Plates and Gates are all essential and used regularly in our services.

If you are interested in serving at the altar at St. John’s, please contact Morley Stevenson for more information.

Lay Readers read the Lessons at Holy Communion, and the Lessons and Psalms at Choral Morning Prayer. Brian Campbell coordinates the schedule.
